The LPGA Tour is back in action and this time it takes off from America for the 2023 Maybank Championship. The Tour has shifted to Malaysia for a week and the tournament will be played in Kuala Lumpur.
The inaugural championship will be played from October 26th to 29th. Initially, a different tournament was supposed to take place in Malaysia. However, the organizers decided to go ahead with the inaugural Maybank Championship.
The course selected for the event is the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, which also happens to be one of the most extravagant golf courses in Malaysia. Interestingly, this is the first time it will host an LPGA Tour event and there are huge expectations from the golf course.
Regardless, the golf course is designed with great detail and has a 6,246 yardage. Additionally, it also has a par of 72, which can be decent for many LPGA Tour golfers competing in the tournament.
The 2023 Maybank Championship will also have one of the biggest purses of $3 million, excluding the major events where the winner will take home around $450,000.
