The DP World Tour’s ISPS Handa Australian Open is scheduled to take place this week from November 27 to December 1 at the Kingston Heath Golf Course. The Kingston Heath Golf Club was founded in 1909 and is located in the Sandbelt region of the southeast Melbourne suburbs.
The course was designed by Dan Soutar in 1925 and Dr Alister MacKenzie was brought to advice on building the bunkers. MacKenzie suggested turning the hole 15 from short par to medium par.
The Australian Masters took place at Kingston Heath Golf Club in 2009 and Tiger Woods lifted the trophy that year. Following the triumph, he expressed his thoughts on playing on the course (via Top 100 golf courses.com):
“All the guys have raved about this golf course and I understand why. I really enjoy playing on sandbelt courses because it brings back shot-making and we don't see enough of that.”
Adam Scott said (via Kingston Heath Melbourne):
“This place (Kingston Heath) has withstood the test of the world’s best, but for a global audience, there is yet to be a proper introduction. Come 2028 that will all change."
The course is an 18-hole course on 50 hectares and it's a 72-par course. According to Golf Pass, the clubhouse has a strict dress code and the ones playing on the course can access the clubhouse and locker rooms. They can also relish the snacks and bar section.
