The PGA Tour season is well underway and we have already witnessed some unbelievable tournaments and performances, but no Major tournaments have taken place so far. The Players Championship is considered the fifth Major in golf, but it isn't an official Major.
The four Major tournaments in golf are:
- The Masters
- The PGA Championship
- The U.S. Open
- The Open Championship
First up is the Masters, which will be held in early April. The Masters is the only Major that has a fixed location, where it has been held since 1934, the Augusta National Golf Club.
The PGA Championship will be the second Major in the calendar, to be held in mid-May. The Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, will be the venue for this year's PGA Championship.
The U.S. Open comes next. Last year’s U.S. Open was held at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, where Matt Fitzpatrick recorded his first Major and PGA Tour victory. This year's version will be held at the Los Angeles Country Club in California in June.
The fourth and final major will take place in July. The Open Championship will be held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in England.
Will LIV players participate in Major tournaments this year?
Though other PGA Tour events don't allow it, LIV Golfers will be present at the four Major tournaments this year. The Majors will allow them to play regardless of their tour status, if they qualify.

The Masters was the first of the Major tournaments to allow LIV golfers to participate. They released a statement which read:
"Regrettably, recent actions have divided men’s professional golf by diminishing the virtues of the game and the meaningful legacies of those who built it. Although we are disappointed in these developments, our focus is to honor the tradition of bringing together a preeminent field of golfers this coming April."
The statement continued:
"Therefore, as invitations are sent this week, we will invite those eligible under our current criteria to compete in the 2023 Masters Tournament. As we have said in the past, we look at every aspect of the Tournament each year, and any modifications or changes to invitation criteria for future Tournaments will be announced in April."
The PGA Championship was one of the last to make this decision, but they ultimately followed suit. The CEO, Seth Waughn, said via Golf Digest:
“Our decisions are always based on what’s in the best interest of the PGA of America and conducting the best championship possible. Sadly, the current division in the professional game is not good for the sport or the future of the game. We hope there might be some resolution soon. In the meantime, as always, our focus will be on our mission to grow the game and improve the lives of our members, who work so hard to impact millions of lives every day.”
