Daniel Brown of England missed six of the last seven cuts on the DP World Tour. He qualified for the Open Championship through final qualifying event through final qualifying event at West Lancashire. He was on top of the leaderboard after 18 holes and is tied for second with 18 holes to go at the Open Championship 2024.
Daniel Brown's brother Ben Brown is caddying for him. After the first round of the Open, Daniel praised Ben, who is also a competitive golfer, and said (via PGA Tour):
"I was struggling on the last few holes to … see the slopes and stuff on the green. So it was hard to read putts, but thankfully he (Ben) knows AimPoint, so I was kind of putting my trust in him for the last sort of like two or three holes."
Ben Brown has been on the bag of his elder brother in earlier DP World Tour events too. In 2022, Brown registered victory at the 2022 U18 Fairhaven Trophy. In 2023, he emerged victorious at the 2023 Amateur Championship at Ferndown Golf Club in playoffs against Tyler Weaver.
Ben Brown also participated in the final qualifying event at West Lancashire, however, he withdrew after the first round. Ben made it to the 2024 English Golf men's squad and participates in all amateur events such as the recent Yorkshire Amateur Championship and the St Andrews Links Trophy.
Daniel Brown praised him for reading green and said (via PGA Tour):
"I like having him on the bag. He's good at reading greens, and he's obviously a good golfer himself. So he can give good advice. To share sort of my first major with him on the bag is nice," Daniel said.
Earlier this year, Robert MacIntyre won the RBC Canadian Open with his father, Dougie, caddying up for him. With just a shot behind Billy Horschel, Daniel will look to win his first Major and have his hands on the $3.1 million winner's prize money.
