The first round of the Mauritius Open did not start as Eddie Pepperell would have had hoped, with a par on the first and a bogey on the second. However, the Englishman stepped on the gas and carded seven birdies with no bogeys for the rest of the round.
After his performance at the Mauritius Open, Eddie Pepperell, who is seeking his third DP World Tour victory, had this to say to the Tour News Service:
"After bogeying the second hole I was worried it was going to be one of those Thursdays again, a bit like last week in the windy conditions. But I turned it around really nicely and played very well, to be honest, on the whole. So I'm very pleased."
The top-ranked golfer in the field, Antoine Rozner, carded two birdies and four bogeys (2-over) and is tied for 80th. Another top favorite, Angel Ayora, also had a slow start, carding two birdies and two bogeys (even par) and is tied for 47th.
