Andy Sullivan carded eight birdies and no bogeys to take a share of the lead after the first round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The Englishman is seeking his fifth victory on the DP World Tour and his third in South Africa.
Sullivan had this to say to the DP Tour News Service following his first round performance at the Alfred Dunhill Championship:
"Obviously coming back to South Africa is a feel-good factor, winning my first event down here. I always get a good following and support, always feel comfortable and am always enjoying myself so generally play decent golf."
Defending champion Louis Oosthuizen carded five birdies and one bogey until the 17th, but a triple bogey on the 18th left him well back on the leaderboard.
His fellow South Africans and LIV Golf teammates Dean Burmester and Charl Schwartzel are also playing in the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Burmester is tied for 19th thanks to a five-birdie, two-bogey first round, while Schwartzel is tied for 36th after carding an eagle, two birdies, and three bogeys on Thursday.
