Patty Tavatanakit and Jake Knapp carded seven birdies and one bogey for a 6-under 66 in the second round to maintain their lead at the Grant Thornton Invitational. It was the second-best score of the day.

The best second round of the event was posted by Jeeno Thitikul and Tom Kim, who had nine birdies and one bogey. This moved them up four places on the leaderboard to second place with 18 holes to play.

Another team in contention for the title was defending champions Lydia Ko and Jason Day. The Kiwi and Australian recovered from a slow start (one bogey-free birdie on the front nine) to card four bogey-free birdies on the back nine. They are now fourth on the leaderboard, five shots off the lead.

Andrea Lee and Max Greyserman made the biggest improvement in the second round of the Grant Thornton Invitational. The Americans moved up eight places after carding a bogey-free round of six birdies on Saturday.

On the other side of the coin were Maja Stark and JT Poston, who dropped six places after a very difficult start. Stark and Poston made two bogeys and a double bogey on the first four holes, but rallied with four bogey-free birdies over the next 14 holes to save par for the round.

Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler also dropped six places, but their struggles were present throughout the round. Thompson and Fowler bogeyed the 5th, 9th, 13th and 18th, with only three birdies (holes 3, 6 and 10).

The second round was played in the alternate shot format, where players take turns hitting the same ball until it is holed. One player tees off on the even-numbered holes and the other on the odd-numbered holes.
