The Presidents Cup is the next major international event for golf. After a full season, six players automatically qualified for Team USA, which will be captained by Jim Furyk. Apart from the six players, the rest of the roster needed to be selected by Furyk. The captain officially made his picks on Tuesday, September 3.

At 1 pm EST, both teams made their remaining selections. Team USA captain Furyk named the following golfers to his squad:

  • Keegan Bradley
  • Sam Burns
  • Tony Finau
  • Brian Harman
  • Russell Henley
  • Max Homa

They joined the established crew of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala. The 12-man team is now fully prepared for their trip to the Royal Montreal Golf Club and looks poised to continue the US's winning ways.

Keegan Bradley was either going to be a captain's selection or an assistant captain. He ended up ranked 10th in points after his BMW Championship win, and Furyk decided to make him a player. Either way, it will be an experience he leans on when he captains the Ryder Cup next year.

The 12 golfers above will head to Montreal on September 24 and will play the tournament through that weekend, concluding play on Sunday, September 29th. The US has dominated the competition, with just two non-losses (one loss and one tie) in the entire history of the Presidents Cup.

Can LIV Golf players be picked for the Presidents Cup?

There are a few big names missing from the Presidents Cup for Team USA. 2023 Ryder Cup star Brooks Koepka and 2024 US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau did not get selected to represent Team USA later this month.

This is because they couldn't be picked. Koepka narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Ryder Cup automatically, but he was selected by captain Zach Johnson last year. That couldn't happen this time.

The Presidents Cup operates on the FedEx Cup points list. Those are awarded at PGA Tour events, so LIV members can't get them. That rules out their ability to qualify on their own. As for the captain's choice, it wasn't just a decision to leave them off.

The Presidents Cup states that all players must be eligible for PGA Tour-sanctioned events, which are the ones that award FedEx points anyway. LIV Golf players aren't eligible to compete in those, so they can't be picked for the Cup no matter how good they are.

Players who left knew there'd be consequences. One of the first things that the PGA Tour said when LIV began poaching players was that anyone who moved over was immediately ineligible for the Presidents Cup, and that hasn't changed.
