Matt McCarty has won the inaugural season of the 2024 Black Desert Championship. The third tournament of the PGA Tour's FedExCup Fall wrapped up on Thursday, October 13.

McCarty was accompanied by his caddie, Devrath Das, in the victory. McCarty carded 62, 68, 64, and 67 in the four rounds of the tournament. He won his PGA Tour victory by sinking a putt. Talking about it, his caddie Das said:

"I knew where it was going. I was looking at my buddy; I didn’t even see the shot. Matt can bang fairways."

Devrath Das did his high school at St. Francis High School in San Jose, California. He played golf at his high school, where he led his team to win the Viking Classic. In the amateur tournament, Das finished as the runner-up at the 2015 California Junior Amateur. He has six top-5 finishes on the NCGA Junior Tour.

Das attended college at Santa Clara University in California. He did his minor in economics and did his bachelor's degree in communication and media studies. He played collegiate golf and was a part of the men's golf team.

In college, he had a scoring average of 77.00 in seven events. He met Matt McCarty during his college. McCarty turned professional in 2021. Das has been caddying for his college teammate for three seasons. They also adopted the nickname "Road Dawgs" at the Korn Ferry Tour.

As per Devrath Das' LinkedIn profile, he previously worked as a junior club coach at the La Rinconada Country Club. He was an assistant manager at a South Indian restaurant during his college. He worked briefly at Barracuda as a sales representative before joining McCarty.

After his third Korn Ferry Tour victory, Matt McCarty said (via Santa Clara Broncos):

"Being able to have a buddy that could commit to being a full-time person early and trying it out and then going from there, it made it easy for both of us but also less stressful for me, too. It's been fun and it made it easier the first year traveling together and the comfortability aspect of being in so many new places, but doing it with a buddy made it great."

Matt McCarty has jumped to 95th from 232nd in the FedExCup standings because of his victory at the Black Desert Championship in Ivins, Utah. He gained 500 FedExCup Fall points courtesy of the win.
