All about Ryggs Johnston's performance at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open (Men) 2025
Ryggs Johnston started well at the 2025 ISPS HANDA Australian Open with a solid round of 65 on November 27. He teed off at the Victoria Golf Course and shot three birdies and a bogey on the front nine, and five birdies on the back nine for a round of 7-under 65.
Speaking of his opening round performance, Johnston said, via DP World Tour:
"Pretty much went out onto the course blind today, didn’t get a practice round, so 65 is a good number. I got in Monday afternoon, played Victoria Tuesday. Was going to play here yesterday afternoon but the weather ended up ruining that.
"I hit it pretty good, made some good putts, and just played solid throughout the round. Took advantage of the easier holes and got on a little heater on the back nine, made five in a row. That helped a lot. Just an all-round good round," he added.
After a good start, Ryggs Johnston shot 3-under 68 in the second round with six birdies and three bogeys. He shot a third round of 4-under 68 with six birdies and a double bogey on the 14th hole. With an overall score of 14 under, he is tied for the lead with Lucas Herbert. The tournament will have its finale on Sunday, December 1.
