Matt McCarty carded an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys for a 4-under total in the fourth round of the Black Desert Championship. The performance helped him extend his lead from the previous round and win the tournament.
McCarty had already made headlines on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he won three of the final eight events of the season to earn his PGA Tour card. His victory at the Black Desert Resort is his fourth in his last 10 starts overall.
The rookie is just the fifth player in history to win his first PGA Tour event in three or fewer starts. He joins Jim Benepe, Garrick Higgo, Bob Gilder, Seve Ballesteros and Russell Henley on that list.
Lucas Glover and Matti Schmid each carded impressive rounds of 62. Glover climbed 25 spots to tie for third and Schmid climbed 31 spots to tie for fifth.
