The Amundi Evian Championship concluded early Sunday morning EST on July 14. The fourth Major of the year was a huge success, giving the golfing world an excellent tournament to watch this weekend. It was a tight affair that went right down to the 18th hole in the fourth round, leaving one player still standing with the trophy. Here's what went down this weekend.

Several other golfers put in excellent performances as well, including Alison Lee, Lilia Vu, Brooke Henderson, Ryann O'Toole, Jin Young Ko, Maja Stark, Rose Zhang, Celine Boutier, Lydia Ko, and Hannah Green.
Nelly Korda, the World No. 1 and betting favorite, returned to the course this week. She had to withdraw last time out due to a dog bite she sustained, but she played and did fairly well. She was five under and tied for 26th.
She said via NBC Sports:
“Yeah, a little bit up and down. Nice to finish birdie, eagle. Hopefully, that’s — give me a nice boost into my next event, which is in three weeks, though, so not really.”
Ayake Furue became the fourth Japanese woman ever to win a Major tournament. It required a stunning walk-off eagle to avoid a playoff. She brilliantly played onto the green on the 18th, nailing the eagle putt to drop two points - one clear of Stephanie Kyriacou.
After the third round, which Kyriacou led, the golfer said via ESPN:
"I'm just trying to stay patient. The more you play this course, the more you figure out the tips and tricks. I don't think I've been in contention in a Major before, so it's exciting."
Unfortunately, she could not hold off the brilliant comeback from Furue, who captured the Amundi Evian Championship crown for 2024.
