On Tuesday, January 14, PGA Tour veteran John Daly revealed that he recently underwent hand surgery. Despite the procedure, he expressed optimism about returning to the range soon.
Daly is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, including two major championships, and now competes on the senior tour. He was last seen playing alongside his son at the PNC Championship.
Daly shared the latest update on his recovery with fans via social media from Tampa, Florida.
"Emergency hand surgery," he said. "Thankful went great & Doc McClimans for taking care of me. Be back playing in no time!"
This isn't the first time Daly has dealt with injuries or undergone surgery. In this article, we will explore the timeline of his health issues.
John Daly's injury timeline explored
John Daly has faced his fair share of injuries and health struggles during his more than three-decade professional career. In 2009, he underwent lap band surgery and lost over 100 pounds.
The two-time major champion also underwent surgery in 2013 to address his elbow pain.
"I've been dealing with it for two years," he was quoted as saying via Golf Digest. "I can handle a few more days. "I have no idea what my timeline is to come back. I just know that it was time to do something."
As per Daly, he had been experiencing elbow pain since the 2007 Honda Classic, where he injured his ribcage after halting his swing to avoid hitting a fan who had wandered onto the course.
In 2019, Daly underwent emergency surgery after developing sepsis from a brown recluse spider bite while vacationing in England.
In September 2020, he underwent surgery following a bladder cancer diagnosis and also had his knee replaced. Two years later, Daly underwent another knee replacement surgery, which led to his withdrawal from the PGA Championship.
Last year, Daly pulled out of the Open Championship after sustaining a knee injury during the first round.
"Disappointed on missing out The Open because of a knee injury," he wrote on X. " Watching from afar isn't the same, but know I tried my heart out to get thru it. Was at physio this morning and made the decision to ice & rest it!"
Following Daly's recent hand surgery, fans are hopeful that their favorite star will recover soon and continue to entertain the world as he always does.
