Jon Rahm has withdrawn from the US Open 2024 due to a foot injury. The 29-year-old LIV Golfer announced his withdrawal in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:

"After consulting with numerous doctors and my team, I have decided it is best for my long term health, to withdraw from this weeks US Open Championship.

He further wrote:

To say I’m disappointed is a massive understatement! I wish all my peers the best of luck and want to thank all of the USGA staff, volunteers and community of Pinehurst for hosting and putting on what I’m sure will be an amazing championship! Hopefully I'll be back in action sooner than later!"

Jon Rahm has an infected cut between his toes on his left foot. He even wore a flip-flop to a pre-tournament press conference at the US Open, to keep the area dry, and talked about his injury. He said (via PGA Tour):

"The infection was the worrisome part. The infection is now controlled but there’s still swelling and there’s still pain. There's a reason I walked out here in a shoe and a flip-flop, trying to keep the area dry and trying to get that to heal as soon as possible. But I can only do what I can do. The human body can only work so fast."

Jon Rahm also withdrew from the LIV Golf Houston during the second round last week. He took a pain-numbing shot before the second round but had to withdraw after six holes. The tournament was held from June 7 to 9, 2024.

The withdrawal ended Rahm's 29-straight major appearances streak. Jackson Suber will take Jon Rahm's place on the field. Suber secured the first alternate position after scoring rounds of 70 and 65 in a 3-for-2 playoff at the Rockville, Maryland, final qualifier. The final qualifier was held at the Woodmont Country Club’s North Course.

The second alternate member is Kieran Vincent and the third is Lucas Herbert. The US Open 2024 will be held at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina from June 13 to 16, 2024.

A look at Jon Rahm's performance in 2024

Jon Rahm's performance has been splendid this year. Rahm joined LIV Golf, the breakaway tour, this year and is currently ranked No. 2 in the overall rankings. He has had seven top-10 finishes in the eight starts in the LIV Golf. His best performance of the year came at LIV Golf Mayakoba and LIV Golf Adelaide. He finished tied for third position in both tournaments.

However, his performance at two Majors hasn't impressed many. He finished T45 at the Augusta National Golf Course and failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship last month.
