Why did Lydia Ko delete Instagram for a week? Ace golfer reveals reason behind the move

Lydia Ko had deleted her Instagram because she didn't want to be distracted during the Olympic Golf week. The women's golf event is being held at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.

Lydia Ko is currently tied on top of the leaderboard with Morgane Metraux. Both have an aggregate score of 9-under 207 after three rounds. Lydia Ko deleted her Instagram earlier this week. She has now reactivated her Instagram.

Talking about it, Ko said (via ASAP Sports):

"I deleted my Instagram for the week because I didn't want other things to distract me. Normally -- obviously it shows how much time I'm on my Instagram."

Ko started the tournament with a mediocre round of an even par 72. She performed well in the second round with six birdies against a bogey to score 5-under 67. She cared 4-under 68 in the third round with six birdies against two bogeys.

Talking about her performance in the round, she said:

"Overall I played solid. Today was difficult with the wind picking up. The wind was up all day, and despite being in the final group I felt like I was able to embrace the atmosphere really well. It was a lot of fun."

This is Lydia Ko's third appearance at the Olympics. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, Ko won a silver medal while in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she won the bronze. She is the only golfer to win two medals in consecutive Olympics.

Ko and Metraux are followed by Rose Zhang and Miyu Yamashita who are tied for third position with a score of -7. Atthaya Thitikul is on fifth position with -6 and Mariajo Uribe is on sixth position with -5.

Lydia Ko will tee off with Morgane Metraux and Rose Zhang in the final round of the women's golf event at 6:39 am ET on Saturday, August 10. Miyu Yamashita (Japan), Atthaya Thitikul (Thailand), and Mariajo Uribe (Colombia) will tee off at 6:28 a.m. ET. Nelly Korda (USA), Xiyu Janet Lin (China, and Celine Boutier (France) will tee off at 6:17 a.m. ET.

Lydia Ko has had a great 2024 season so far. The Kiwi golfer has had one win, three top-5 finishes, and seven top-25 finishes this year. She is positioned sixth in the Race to CME Globe rankings.
