Marc Leishman has withdrawn from LIV Golf UK after the first round due to illness. The tournament's first round was played on Friday, July 26 at JCB Golf & Country Club, near Uttoxeter, England.

Leishman carded 2-under 69 in the first round. The Ripper GC star scored four birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 13th holes against two bogeys on the 6th and 15th holes. LIV Golf Communications notified his illness and announced that he would be replaced by Wade Ormsby.

In a post on X, LIV Golf Communications wrote:

"Reserve player Wade Ormsby to replace Marc Leishman in the @rippergc_ lineup for final two rounds #LIVGolf UK by JCB. This will be Ormsby's third tournament appearance this season."

The Ripper GC consists of Cameron Smith, Matt Jones, Marc Leishman, and Jediah Morgan. It is currently ranked 4th in the LIV Golf team standings.

As per LIV Golf team rules, if a member of a team withdraws in the middle of a tournament, the team can pick any of the reserve players. The five reserve players on LIV Golf are Ben Campbell, Laurie Canter, Luis Carrera, John Catlin, and Wade Ormsby.

Wade Ormsby being chosen by Ripper GC will be appearing in the tournament for the third time this year. He played the third round at LIV Golf Jeddah where he replaced Matthew Wold. He carded 2-over 72 in the round.

Last month, he replaced Stinger GC Captain Louis Oosthuizen after the latter withdrew because of a back injury at LIV Golf Houston after the first round. Ormsby scored 1-over 73 and 1-under 71 in the second and third rounds.

Ormsby is currently ranked 81st in the International Series Rankings. Ormsby has played at LIV Golf in the inaugural season. He played seven events with his best finish at LIV Golf London, where he finished at T23. His other notable finishes include 32nd at Bangkok and 36th at Jeddah.
