Nelly Korda of the United States has withdrawn from the upcoming LET London event due to a dog bite. The World No.1 player announced her withdrawal from LET's Aramco Team Series event on Instagram Stories.
The 2024 LET event was scheduled for July 3 to 5, 2024 at the Centurion Club in London. Nelly Korda has a tremendous record at the tournament. She is the defending champion of the individual title at the team event, having also won in 2022. Nelly Korda wrote on Instagram Stories:
"I regret to announce that I must withdraw from next week’s Ladies European Tour tournament in London. I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and recover fully."
Korda further wrote:
"I apologize to the LET, the sponsors and my fans for my absence. Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to returning to the course soon."
The LET event will be followed by the fourth LPGA major of the season, the Amundi Evian Championship, which will be played at Evian Resort Golf Club in France from July 11 to 14, 2024.
Further, this is the second time on the Tour that someone has to withdraw from an event this year. Alison Lee had to withdraw due to dog bite from the 2024 Aramco Saudi Ladies International in February.
Nelly Korda nominated for 'Best Athlete' and 'Best Golfer' at the 2024 ESPYS
Nelly Korda has been nominated for two awards at the 2024 ESPY Awards. Korda, the World No. 1 is nominated for the "Best Athlete Women's Sports" and "Best Golfer".
Korda is in contention for the "Best Athlete Women's Sports" with lowa basketballer Caitlin Clark, Tennis player Coco Gauff, and Las Vegas Aces player A'ja Wilson. She'll be competing with Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Lilia Vu for the "Best Golfer" award.
The 2024 ESPY Awards also known as the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly will be broadcast live on Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Fans can cast their votes live till 5 p.m. ET on July 11.
Korda has had a sensational season so far. She has won six tournaments so far. In the 11 starts this season, she has seven top-10 finishes in the tournament. She also won the first LPGA Major of the season, the 2024 Chevron Championship.
She also emerged victorious at the LPGA Drive On Championship, Ford Championship, Mizuho Americas Open, FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship and T-Mobile Match Play.
