Why was Round 2 of the 2024 Tour Championship suspended?

The second round of the Tour Championship was suspended due to inclement weather. However, after 93 minutes of delay, the championship resumed, and all the players completed their rounds on Friday.

On Friday, August 30, the play at the East Lake Golf Club was hindered due to the thunderstorms passing through Atlanta. The play was stopped at 5:15 pm ET with eight players yet to finish the round.

At that time Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa were on the 16th fairway, with Scheffler aggregating at 19-under and having a four-stroke lead over Morikawa and Xander Schauffele.

The play was resumed at 6:48 pm ET. After the resumption, Scheffler added two more birdies to finish the day at 21-under. The World No. 1 is aiming to clinch the FedEx Cup after missing out in the past two seasons, despite entering the Tour Championship as the leader both times.

Morikawa also closed the day's play with back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to shoot 63. Schauffele, however, slipped to third after adding just one more birdie in the last three holes.

Adam Scott (67), Sahith Theegala (66), and Wyndham Clark (67) are nine shots back after 36 holes at the East Lake Golf Club. Sam Burns shot 68 and is ten strokes behind after two days of play.
