American legend Tiger Woods will not be playing at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has struggled to maintain his world ranking and is currently 893rd as per the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
The top 15 golfers according to the OWGR qualify for the Olympics, along with the top two players from countries with a single or no player among the top 15.
Woods has failed to make it to the Paris Olympics due to his ranking. He spoke about playing in the Olympics in 2020 in an interview with TaylorMade Golf. He said:
"I would love to represent my country and be part of the Olympic Games. It is something that I was not a part of in '16. I was just coming back, but you know, watching and listening to some of the guys like Justin and Ricky and Baba and those guys and how much they really enjoyed their experiences down there, and I've had a lot of friends who've competed in the Olympic games." This year, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler will represent Team USA at the Olympics. Schauffele won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and will return to defend his title.
Morikawa also played in the 2020 Olympics but missed out on winning the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Scheffler and Clark will make their debuts this year.
