Popular YouTuber and PGA Tour professional Wesley Bryan is competing at the 3M Open this week. For the tournament, he is using a single driver, unlike the dual-driver setup he had last week.
Wesley Bryan started his week at the TPC Twin Cities with a 4-under 67, thanks to seven birdies, one bogey, and a double bogey. He is tied for 14th, four strokes behind the lead.
On Wednesday, July 24, Bryan revealed that, since the Barracuda Championship, he has been using a Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond Max and a Titleist GT2 driver. He said he used the dual-driver setup because it allowed him to comfortably operate the ball both ways off the tee.
"One was a little more friendly to draw, and one was a little more friendly to fade," Bryan was quoted as saying via PGA Tour.
However, he is only using the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Max this week.
"A lot of guys hit the ball in the middle of the club face," Bryan explained, "And, yes, that’s probably the way you’re supposed to hit driver. I try to utilize a lot of the face. You see…my tee marks go anywhere from (the center of the face) all the way to over here (on the toe of the face).
"So I like to utilize about an inch and a half of the club face here. The forgiveness on the toe of this driver is second to none, and again, I hit it pretty poor, as you guys know, off the tee most of the time, although it’s getting a lot better. This driver offers a lot of forgiveness," he added.
When will Wesley Bryan tee off at the 3M Open on Friday?
Wesley Bryan is grouped with Charley Hoffman and Ryo Hisatsune for the second round of the 3M Open. The trio will tee off on Friday, July 26 at 7:56 am ET from the tenth hole.
At 7:45 am ET, Henrik Norlander, Dylan Wu, and Max Greyserman will be the first group to tee off from the first hole. Callum Tarren, Matti Schmid, and Mac Meissner will begin their round from the tenth tee.
Following the first round, Jacob Bridgeman took the early one-stroke lead over Mackenzie Hughes after shooting 8-under-63. Patrick Rodgers, Martin Trainer, and Andrew Novak were two strokes back and tied for third.
