Rasmus Hojgaard is the twin brother of PGA Tour golfer Nicolai Hojgaard and there's a possibility he will join the latter to play on the PGA Tour next year. The top 10 of the Race to Dubai rankings by the end of the year earn full status to the PGA Tour. Nicolai currently is part of the PGA Tour and is ranked 49th in the world.
Rasmus is in first position in the rankings. He'll earn his ticket to the PGA Tour if he continues to maintain his position, or remains inside the top ten in the Race to Dubai rankings through the eight remaining events on the DP World Tour.
His recent win at the Amgen Irish Open helped him to reach the first position on the Race to Dubai rankings. In the event held at Royal County Down, he beat Rory McIlroy by one shot. Over the course of four rounds, Hojgaard scored 71, 68, 71, and 65, which brought his total to 9-under 275 by the end of the event.
Rasmus Hojgaard shared after his win, that his biggest goal of the year was making it to the PGA Tour.
The Dane said (via PGATour.com),
“It's [joining the PGA Tour] been my biggest goal for this season. Last year was a bit of a—that was hard. But yeah, it made me more motivated to get it this year.”
Besides Hojgaard, the other top ten golfers on the Race to Dubai list are Thriston Lawrence (2), Jesper Svensson (3), Sebastian Soderberg (4), Niklas Norgaard (5), Matteo Manassero (6), Rikuya Hoshino (7), Romain Langasque (8), Guido Migliozzi (9) and Frederic LaCroix (10).
