Scottie Scheffler will tee off for the second round of the 2024 BMW Championship despite experiencing back tightness during the first round. On Thursday, August 22, while playing on the 17th tee, Scheffler dealt with the back issue. After hitting the shot, he winced and grabbed his back but continued the round.

Scottie Scheffler shot a 1-under 71 in the first round of the 2024 BMW Championship, finishing in a tie for 15th place. He is scheduled to tee off for the second round on Friday, August 23, at 1:20 p.m. ET in a group with Xander Schauffele.

Scheffler provided an update on his back injury after the first round on Thursday, expressing hope that he would be "totally fine" for the second round. He said (via PGA Tour):

“With it being a little bit tight, it was hard for me to get through it, and I was laboring most of the day to get through the ball. On 17 I was trying to hit a high draw, and that's a shot where I've really got to use a big turn, big motion. Really just felt it a little bit. But other than that, all good," Scheffler said.

"Maybe I hit a few too many balls yesterday or something. It was just a little sore. I'm sure I'll get some ice on it and stuff and I'll be totally fine tomorrow," he added.

Following the first round of the 2024 BMW Championship, Keegan Bradley took the lead at 6-under. He shot a bogey-free round of 66 to secure a one-stroke lead. Hideki Matsuyama claimed the second spot, followed by Alex Noren, Adam Scott, and Sungjae Im, who tied for third place.
