Will Viktor Hovland play The Sentry 2025? Injury update explored

Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler faced setbacks ahead of the Sentry 2025, as both sustained injuries this week. While one was forced to withdraw from the inaugural event of the PGA Tour 2025 season, the other remains in the field.

On Friday, December 27, Viktor Hovland took to Instagram to inform fans about his toe injury. The Norwegian star revealed that he fractured his toe after hitting it on a bed frame. He also shared an X-ray of the injury on the social media platform.

"Bed frame 1 – 0 me," he wrote.

However, the six-time PGA Tour winner remains on the playing field for the Sentry, as the injury doesn't appear to be concerning. Notably, the photograph was also posted from Kapalua, the venue of the event.

Scheffler wasn’t as fortunate, though, as his injury was more severe. The World No. 1 golfer revealed that he broke a glass on his hand on Christmas. As a result, he had to undergo surgery and was forced to skip the Sentry. He's expected to return to action at the American Express.

Hovland has been out of action since the FedEx Cup Playoffs, where he tied for 12th at the Tour Championship. Following an incredible 2023 season, he had an underwhelming year. He missed three cuts in 16 events this season and posted just a couple of top-ten finishes.

Speaking of majors, the Norwegian golfer finished third at the PGA Championship but missed the cut in the other three majors.
