Xander Schauffele and the rest of the PGA Tour are officially back in action. Following the fall portion of the schedule, golf took just a little bit of time off. The Tour season (and FedEx Cup) is officially underway once more thanks to this weekend's The Sentry.
Schauffele, who won the first two Major championships of his career in 2024, is the early favorite to start off his 2025 season with a victory. He and Justin Thomas, who did not have as successful a season as Schauffele, are expected to do very well.

Scottie Scheffler, the World No. 1, is not playing due to a hand injury suffered following his victory at the Hero World Challenge. Otherwise, he would probably be the favorite to win as he will be often in 2025.
Xander Schauffele doesn't love his swing heading into 2025
Whatever Xander Schauffele did in 2024 worked. He played as well or better than anyone not named Scottie Scheffler in winning two Majors and ascending to OWGR rank two.
Schauffele said ahead of the Sentry and the opening 2025 tournament that he still doesn't feel like his swing is right via SI:
“I would say everything I was working on with Chris last year is still not—it feels like my swing, but it's still something that's a little bit uncomfortable."
The 2024 PGA Championship and Open Championship winner said:
“My wedge play sucked. It was really bad. Really, really bad. Golf is tough. With my club pitched a little bit more vertical in my back swing, it's not catering to the best—it’s great for driver, great for long irons, the stats show that. Then, with wedges it’s the club's moving around a little bit, it’s not ideal for hitting like a distance wedge."
He added that he's still trying to get a feel for it. The Sentry will determine if he's done that or not.
