Before Xander Schauffele could represent Team USA in the ongoing 2024 Presidents Cup, the 2024 Open Championship winner was termed the 'class clown' by his teammate, Collin Morikawa. When asked to pick the funniest guy on the tour, Morikawa said Schauffele "wins the MVP for kind of like class clown.”

On September 25th, during a press conference at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, one of the reporters, seemingly alluding to Morikawa's earlier comments, asked Schauffele about the various 'roles' his teammates played. In response, the 9-time PGA Tour winner said (via ASAP Sports):

"I wouldn't call myself a clown. My goodness. That's a little rude, don't you think?"

In the same press conference, Xander Schauffele was also asked if he thought he was the funny one, to which he highlighted the close dynamic within the team and said:

"A lot of the guys are really funny. We're so used to competing against each other in that locker room. I think this team is really close. Fortunately for me the teams I've been on have been really close. There's been pretty much zero turmoil," he added.

Xander Schauffele further spoke about what's important for him and his teammates when they are in the locker room, stressing that it was important to share laughter, something they otherwise couldn't generally do whilst participating in other tournaments.
