"You don't get it in other tournaments"- Lexi Thompson explains what makes the Solheim Cup special

Lexi Thompson is set for what could be her final Solheim Cup as a player, marking her eighth appearance at the biennial event. She was selected by United States captain Stacy Lewis as one of her picks.

The 2024 Solheim Cup will take place from Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15, at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, US. This time, the hosts will take the course seeking revenge for last year's defeat against Team Europe.

Thompson, who announced that this will be her last season, is preparing for her seventh consecutive Solheim Cup appearance. Recently, she spoke about the feeling of competing at the event.

"I always say that the Solheim Cup has been my favorite event of my whole career," she said recently. "There's nothing like it, being alongside all the girls and building those friendships and bonds that you don't get in other tournaments. And yeah, it would be a special moment for sure. It's always an honor."

"I always feel anytime I tee it up, I'm playing for the USA. But to be at a Solheim Cup, wearing the colors, being alongside your teammates, it's very special, a huge honor, the highest, I think, that you'll ever have the opportunity to experience, especially in golf. So hopefully, I'll be on that team and yeah, go USA," she added.
