“You’re serious?”: Sahith Theegala amazed as he and other PGA stars guess Scotland’s national animal (Imagn)

Sahith Theegala and other star golfers are in Scotland this week to play the Genesis Scottish Open. It's a country that many players don't frequently visit and aren't from, with a few exceptions. A video was shared by the PGA Tour's X [formerly twitter] account where some of them were asked if they knew the national animal of Scotland. Most guessed incorrectly and were then stunned to find out the answer.

Most golfers couldn't guess correctly. Theegala guessed some sort of bird, which was incorrect. He followed that up with "a narwhal" before asking if that was a real animal or not. It is, but it is not the national animal of Scotland.

Ludvig Aberg guessed a cow, which was also wrong. Sheep, grouse, and other animals were also given out as answers, incorrectly. Rickie Fowler, sensibly, decided he'd be better off calling Robert MacIntyre to ask for help. He got the right answer: a unicorn.

That surprised everyone. Justin Thomas was dumbfounded at the reveal. Tommy Fleetwood could only muster up, "Oh!" while Sahith Theegala said:

"You're serious?"

Several golfers, Collin Morikawa and Aberg specifically, said that unicorns weren't real and that this must have been some sort of trick. Xander Schauffele concluded the video by struggling to accept the answer.

MacIntyre was the only person to get it correct, and so Fowler was right in knowing who to go to for help. Everyone else struggled with the question and couldn't accept the answer they were given.

Sahith Theegala opens up on recent injury scare

Sahith Theegala is in Scotland, to play the Genesis Scottish Open. Several weeks ago, the golfer sustained a bad injury that could have forced him out of action for a while. He's healthy now, but what happened to Theegala could have been life-threatening. Fortunately, he did not have to face the worst-case consequences of his injury.

He said at the Wells Fargo Championship via NBC Sports:

“I slipped a rib … and wasn’t sure I was going to play. I immediately called my chiro and got three really painful adjustments to get it back in place and couldn’t really breathe or move all Saturday and Sunday. But I traveled Monday, knowing that I’ve done it before, and it’s healed in a week or two. So, I figured with some aggressive rehab, it was going to heal quickly.”

It did heal rather quickly, and Sahith Theegala has hardly missed a beat since. At the Scottish Open, he's only through six holes but is one under par and looking to charge up the leaderboard. The current leaders are Lie Haotong and Maximilian Kieffer, both of whom are six under. Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and others are close behind as well.
