THE PLAYERS Championship - Final Round
Paul Casey

English golfer Paul Alexander Casey, a LIV Golf member, was born on July 21, 1977. Additionally, he has participated in both the European Tour and the US PGA Tour. He reached his highest place in the Official World Golf Ranking, third, in 2009.

Over the course of several golf tours, Paul Casey has amassed an incredible total of 23 professional victories. He has earned victories on the PGA Tour three times, the European Tour fifteen times, the Asian Tour twice, the PGA Tour of Australasia once, and three other times.

In May 2001, Casey made his debut on the European Tour. He finished second in his fifth tournament and triumphed in his eleventh, the Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship. He finished that season in 22nd place overall and took up the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year honor. He finished sixth on the Order of Merit in 2003 after a second dismal season in which he won the ANZ Championship and the Benson & Hedges International Open.

Casey defeated Brandon Stone by four strokes at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in January 2021 to earn his 15th European Tour title. He returned to the top 20 in the global rankings after his victory. At the Olympic Games in August of that same year, Casey tied for third place.

When Casey first competed on the LIV Golf circuit in July 2022, he finished sixth and earned $648,000 at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Then, Casey earned $171,200 by placing 21st in the LIV Golf Invitational Boston, which was held at The International Golf Club in Bolton, Massachusetts. At the El Camaleon Golf Course in Mayakoba, Casey's team, Crushers GC, won the team event at LIV Golf Mexico in 2023.

Paul Casey’s Caddie

According to some reports, Paul Cassey's caddie is still John McLaren as of 2023, but other reports say Shanon Wallis. Thus, it cannot be confirmed as of now.

John McLaren, who has extensive expertise, served as Paul Casey's permanent caddy up until October 2021. However, "Long Socks" had to take a brief leave of absence from his responsibilities due to the stresses of the transatlantic journey during COVID-19.

Casey first turned to Tim Butler, an Australian, before turning to Shannon Willis to fill that significant void. Early in 2022, McLaren was back by Casey's side. McLaren, who has three decades of expertise and has caddied for Luke Donald, took another vacation following the Saudi International in February, citing family obligations and the travel conditions.

McLaren explained, “My children are eight and nine. My son broke his arm during the last Ryder Cup, and I wasn’t there. My daughter was born in Lytham in 2012, and because of the Open, I have never really been there for her birthday. COVID travel became so much more difficult.”

He further added, “I have no mental health issues, but I understand that there are a lot around because of this climate. I am mentally more tired because of travel and the anxiety of testing positive after a two or three-week trip than being stuck in a country when I have young kids. Similarly, I go home and they are in school, and I worry about not being able to get back out to work. That created a lot of uncertainty I’d rather not have to deal with.”

Casey has been with McLaren since 2016, and he has helped revitalize his career. In addition to winning the 2018 and 2019 Valspar Championships, the 2020 Porsche European Open, and the 2021 Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Casey placed sixth at the Masters in 2017.

When Casey and McLaren first collaborated, they agreed that McLaren would choose Casey's replacement whenever he needed a break. For the 2017 Travelers Championship, McLaren chose Shannon Wallis to serve as Casey's interim bagman. The decision paid off, as Casey tied for fifth place at the end of the tournament.

For the 2022 Genesis Invitational, Casey once again went to Wallis because McLaren was not available. Then, following a brief change, Casey was accompanied by Butler, Emiliano Grillo's caddy, at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The following week, when Casey placed third at the Players Championship, Wallis was back on the bag. Wallis started caddying on the PGA Tour in 2004 and most recently worked for Jonas Blixt before Casey. Marcus Fraser, Nathan Green, Matt Jones, Jarrod Lyle, Steven Bowditch, Kevin Stadler, and Brandt Snedeker are just a few of the players for whom Wallis has looped.

What is the net worth of John McLaren?

The net worth of John McLaren is reported to be around $1 million as of September 2023. However, a few sources claim his net worth to be less than $1 million and more than $100,000.

In 2020–21, Casey made more than $3.1 million, ranking 34th among all PGA Tour earners. Caddies typically receive a cut of up to 10% of that sum. So, if the Englishman repeats that performance this year and Wallis stays in the bag, he can anticipate earning about $300,000.

Given that Paul Casey has already earned $3.8 million from LIV Golf for the year to date and that there are still almost three months left in the season, his caddie may be worth more than $300,000. Paul Casey has earned a total of $49,653,236 throughout the course of his career in PGA and LIV golf, according to Spotrac.
