The PGA Tour golf event known as the RSM Classic takes place in Georgia each fall. It debuted in October 2010 at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Prior to 2015, when RSM US took over as the title sponsor from McGladrey, the event was known as the McGladrey Classic.
The tournament was inaugurated in March 2010 with assistance from resident tour pros Davis Love III and Zach Johnson. Rock Demarco painted the tournament's new logo. In the inaugural event in 2010, Heath Slocum defeated Bill Haas by a single stroke.
Since 2015, the field has increased to 156 participants and the competition has been held on Sea Island's Seaside and Plantation courses. Between 2015 and 2019 and again in 2021, it was the final official PGA Tour event of the calendar year, with just a few unofficial tournaments conducted before the season began in January.
Who won the PGA RSM Classic 2023?
Ludvig Aberg won the 2023 RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Resort on St. Simons Island, Georgia. Aberg won on 29-under 253 (three rounds were par-70 and one was par-72) to gain his first victory on the PGA Tour and tie the record for the 72-hole scoring format.
That was good enough to beat Mackenzie Hughes, the previous RSM winner, by four shots, who was tied for second. The final event on the PGA Tour calendar saw Tyler Duncan and Eric Cole tie for third place. The $1,512,000 winner's share of the $8,400,000 purse went to Aberg.
