The RBC Canadian Open swings into action from May 28th to June 2nd, 2024, at the prestigious Hamilton Golf & Country Club. This historic tournament, co-organized by Golf Canada and the PGA Tour, boasts the distinction of being Canada's national open and the third-oldest continuously running tournament on the tour.
This year's edition promises exhilarating competition with a $9.4 million USD purse. Spectators can expect to see world-class golfers vying for the title, following in the footsteps of champion Nick Taylor (2023).
Standing tall in Ancaster, Ontario, the Hamilton Golf and Country Club (HGCC) boasts a rich history dating back to 1894. Originally occupying multiple locations, it found its permanent picturesque home in 1930. The course itself is a masterpiece shaped by legendary architects. Harry Colt crafted the first 18 holes in 1914, while Robbie Robinson added a third nine in 1974, resulting in the current 27-hole layout.
With a challenging 7,079 yards and a par 72, the HGCC demands precision and strategic shot-making. Ranked #2 in Canada and previously holding the #98 spot on Golf Digest's Top 100, it's a golfer's paradise. The course itself is a visual treat with rolling terrain, towering trees, and strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. The iconic par-3 16th hole on the Sandhills course, featuring an island green, is a local legend. A recent restoration project by Martin Ebert meticulously brought the course back to its original glory, solidifying HGCC's place as a top-tier course in Canada and on the world stage.
RBC Canadian Open Cut Line
The Canadian Open has a cutline of the top 65 players (including ties) in the first two rounds of play. This completely eliminates half of the field each year.
The RBC Canadian Open cut line changes annually and every round to allow the top 65 and ties to play in the third and fourth rounds. The cut line is set at a specific score or rank. Players who finish above this line move on to play the final two rounds.
