Rickie Fowler’s Players Championship Wins
At the 2015 Players Championship, Fowler won a playoff, earning his first victory in more than three years. Midway through the final round, Fowler was five strokes behind Sergio García.
However, he closed the final six holes in six under par, including an eagle at the par-5 16th. Following his 17th-hole birdie, Fowler finished the round at 12-under par after making his last birdie of the round on the 18th hole.
Kevin Kisner and García both missed their birdie chances to win at the 18th in regulation, therefore, the three men played a three-hole aggregate playoff to determine the champion on holes 16–18. García was eliminated after three pars left him at even, while Fowler and Kisner tied at -1 through par-birdie-par.
As a result, Kisner's tee shot at the 17th hole, which fell within roughly 12 feet of the cup, sent Fowler and Kisner to sudden death. After Kisner's birdie attempt was missed, Fowler made his short birdie to win the championship.
