Rory McIlroy is one of the top professional golfers in the world. He turned pro in 2007 and registered his debut victory on the PGA Tour in 2010. McIlroy impressed everyone instantly with his golf skills and was considered the next big thing in the sport after Tiger Woods.
Recently, the Northern Irish golfer was compared to the Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney as she changed her get-up and revealed her first look as boxer Christy Martin. She is playing the role of the legendary American pro boxer in a new biopic directed by David Michôd.
Back in the day, McIlroy had long, curly hair, and Claire Rogers, a well-known sports journalist, tweeted that Sydney Sweeney's look as Christy Martin is similar to his look in 2010. The similarity was pointed out to Claire by John Steiner, and she said she couldn't unsee it now.
"This is actually 2010 Rory McIlroy. @jmsteiner8 pointed it out, and now I can’t unsee it."
Replying to her tweet, Shane Bacon, a prominent sports writer, shared pictures of a young McIlroy and Sweeney's first look as Christy Martin. Rogers replied, "identical twins," with plenty of people agreeing.
A look at Rory McIlroy's pro golf career so far

Rory McIlroy is one of the top PGA Tour golfers. The 35-year-old has competed in 257 events on the PGA Tour and registered 26 wins so far, including four major championship trophies.
He won his first major championship in 2011 at the US Open and then registered his second major win the next year at the PGA Championship. His next two wins came in 2014 as he won the PGA Championship and the Open Championship.
It has been over ten years since McIlroy won a major trophy. He has come close to winning plenty of times but has fallen short. The legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus once revealed to golf.com why McIlroy hasn't won a major championship in the last ten years.
"Well, it’s been a while for him, but I’m a big Rory fan. I’ve been a big Rory fan for a long time. He’s a good guy, and he’s a wonderful player, he’s got a great golf swing, plays a lot of great shots, and I don’t know where he loses it at times. But, you know, he seems to not be able to focus all the way around," Nicklaus said.
In 2024, McIlroy had a chance of winning the US Open but finished T2 for the event, one stroke behind the winner, Bryson DeChambeau.
