Indian golfing legend S.S.P. Chawrasia funds more than 100 children in his Junior Golf Challenge at Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) as part of his initiative to give back to the golfing community.
The 39 -year-old, whose father was a greenskeeper at RCGC, dreams to grow golf in India by creating this platform for Junior Golfers to showcase their skills.
“This is my first step in trying to grow the game and create future Olympians and champions,” said Chawrasia to the Press Trust of India.
The S.S.P. Chawrasia Junior Golf Challenge will cover 19 categories and among the winners, two golfers will stand a chance to represent the country at the Ciputra World Junior Golf Championship in Jakarta from June 6 to 9, 2017.
“The junior golfers are the future of the game and the future of golf is in bright hands. Golf is no more only for the rich and is now more accessible for youngsters starting out early. The Ultimate Junior Tour is a great platform for the nourishment of young talent across India,” Chawrasia added. Tour Director, Sundeep “Chimmy” Verma, shares SSP’s vision and told Golfication that he is taking the Ultimate Golf Junior Tour to all major cities across the country.
