Chandigarh - Piyush Sangwan birdied the final hole in regulation play to tie the scores and then proceeded to beat S. Sidhartha to grab the overall combined honours at the Usha-IGU Punjab junior golf here Friday at the Shivalik Golf Course.
Piyush, who began the day trailing Yashas Chandra (77), who led for the first three days, ended with a 75, the same as the 17-year-old Sidhartha, who hails from Coimbatore. Then Sangwan, playing in Category B, grabbed the combined honours for Category A and B.
Yashas of Mysore faltered on the final day with a 77 and ended third overall at 296, but he was second in Category A, where the topper was Sidhartha.
Piyush also won the trophy in his own Category B with a total of 295, while Delhi’s Tanvir Kahlon (76) was the runner-up at 307. Adilbir Singh (72) from Chandigarh clinched the third place at 310.
