Sergio García Fernández, a golfer from Spain, was born on January 9, 1980. He joined the LIV Golf Invitational Series in 2022 and has previously participated in the PGA Tour and European Tour. The 2008 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters Tournament are just two of the 36 international tournaments that García has won as a professional golfer.

García has spent the majority of his career among the top 10 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings. He stayed there for more than 300 weeks, between 2000 and 2009. He achieved his career-high ranking of No. 2 in November 2008 after taking the title in the HSBC Champions Tournament.

Golf pro García is renowned for his accurate iron play. In 10 of the 11 Ryder Cup tournaments he took part in throughout his professional career, he set a record with 28.5 points.

He got into a verbal argument with a rules official in May 2022 while competing at the PGA Tour's Wells Fargo Championship and trying to locate his ball. When warned that it was taking too long to recover his ball, García became agitated and yelled, "A couple more weeks, and I won't have to deal with you anymore."

This raised the possibility that García would participate in the LIV Golf events, soon enough, he left the PGA Tour and was subsequently prohibited from competing in any more of its events after he started to compete in LIV Golf.

Sergio García Caddie

Sergio García’s caddie is Glen Murray as of April 2024.

Originally coworkers in the early 2000s, Garcia and Murray broke up in 2014 when Murray started caddying for Charl Schwartzel. But when Garcia won the 2017 Masters at Augusta National, which was his best moment as a player, Murray was his looper.

While the two decided to part ways again in 2018, the reason being that despite winning the SMBC Singapore Open at the start of 2018 with Murray at his side, García's form significantly declined, and in the four weeks leading up to that year's US Open, he missed three cuts, including one while defending his Masters title. García and Murray consequently broke up prior to the year's second major.

García explained at the time of the parting that he needed to take more responsibility for his choices since he had been too dependent on Murray's advice. However, he turned to his former bagman once more for the 2021 AT&T Byron Nelson after using a number of caddies in the years following his departure from Murray, including his brother Victor, Mike Kerr, and Mark Chaney. Meanwhile, Murray was caddying for Lee Westwood.
