PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida - Henrik Stenson was two-under through eight holes on Saturday and held a one-shot lead over Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia when thunderstorms halted play at the Players Championship.
Sweden’s Stenson birdied the fourth and sixth holes in the third round to get to 11-under for the tournament.
That put him atop the leaderboard ahead of overnight leader Garcia and Woods, who came into the third round trailing the Spaniard by a stroke.
Garcia was one-over for the day through six holes after a bogey at the par-five sixth.
Woods was at even par through six after one birdie and one bogey.
Woods and Garcia, both at 10-under, were playing the seventh when the siren sounded to stop play, with thunder already rumbling over the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course.
US veteran Jeff Maggert was the leader in the clubhouse after a six-under 66 for a nine-under 54-hole total of 207.
