TGL denies plans to use paid seat fillers at official events - REPORT

The TGL league is set to premier on January 7 with the first match being played between New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club. According to NUCLR Golf via X (formerly known as Twitter), the league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy would be using paid seat fillers for the tournaments that would be broadcasted live.

According to Penguin Entertainment, the actors would be paid around $150 to $250 per event along with free merchandise for filling seats at the one-of-a-kind innovative SoFi Center. Less than two hours after NUCLR Golf's first post with the announcement, the TGL refuted the report.

The TGL league denied claims that they intended to use actors to bolster attendance at their tournaments. According to the X post, the measures are a part of their preparations to ensure the production runs smoothly and to predict any possible issue. This follows the original report from WPTV, which stated that live event audiences were linked to Penguin Entertainment, a third party management firm. Here's what the new report read (via X @NUCLRGolf):

"UPDATE: TGL is refuting this report. They say the paid actors are only for dress rehearsals in January as well as some additional filmed content. WPTV says they are standing by their reporting - that the advertisements were for “live event audiences” from January to March."

The rumor of seat fillers left the golf community questioning the authenticity of their events. All eyes are on TGL as they navigate this challenge ahead of their highly anticipated debut next week.
