The PGA Tour declared in September 2023 that the Byron Nelson event, which takes place in Dallas, will henceforth be sponsored by the CJ Group; earlier, AT&T had sponsored it since 2015. Thus, the tournament was originally renamed "The CJ CUP Byron Nelson" at the time of the tour's 2024 schedule release.

In 2023, Jason Day repeated as the winner of the event, defeating Austin Eckroat and Kim Si-woo, who were tied for second, by a single stroke. Day had previously won the title in 2010.
