Anthony Kim reveals he never loved golf
Anthony Kim turned pro in 2006 and competed on the PGA Tour until 2012. However, in June 2012, the 39-year-old golfer underwent surgery on an injured Achilles tendon in his left leg. He was expected to return for the 2013 season, but unfortunately, he did not play a pro golf event after the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship.
Hence, after joining LIV Golf earlier this year, Anthony Kim opened up about his relationship with golf and said (via Golf.com):
"I have an interesting relationship with golf. I don’t think I ever loved it. What’s very weird to me right now is that I am falling in love with the game. That’s such a weird spot for me because golf was filled with pressure."
The 39-year-old golfer said golf was filled with different emotions for him. He added:
"My family had to go through a lot to get me this opportunity to play golf. So with that added pressure, I was willing to risk a lot more. That was my nature. I was aggressive on the golf course, I was aggressive off the golf course, and that led to my demise."
He joined LIV Golf in March and had a below-average season, as he couldn't register a single top-10 or top-20 finish. He finished 56th in the season-long individual rankings, but he is putting in the effort in the off-season to improve his performance next season.
