Tiger Woods' career has been marked by long stretches in which he has completely dominated professional golf. To take just two examples, his more than 680 weeks as the world's number one player equals more than 11 years, and his 281 consecutive weeks at the top of the world rankings equals more than five years.

Even in such a remarkable career, there are periods that stand out. In the case of Woods, there are two 12-month periods that vie for the position of his best 365 days. These periods are from 2000 to 2001 and from 2007 to 2008.

Tiger Woods' 2000-2001 stretch

The 365 day stretch from April 2000 to April 2001 marked one of Tiger Woods' best. During this period, he won nine tournaments on the PGA Tour and one on the European Tour. But his most extraordinary achievement was winning the four major championships in a row (three in 2000 and one in 2001), a feat known ever since as the "Tiger Slam".

This is a summary of Woods' victories between April 2000 and April 2001:

  • May 29, 2000: Memorial Tournament
  • Jun 18, 2000: U.S. Open
  • Jul 23, 2000: The Open Championship
  • Aug 20, 2000: PGA Championship
  • Aug 27, 2000: WGC-NEC Invitational
  • Sep 10, 2000: Bell Canadian Open

  • Mar 18, 2001: Bay Hill Invitational
  • Mar 25, 2001: The Players Championship
  • Apr 8, 2001: Masters Tournament

As if that weren't enough, Woods had eight other top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour during that stretch, including a tie for second at the 2000 TOUR Championship.

Woods also won one European Tour event during this period. Here is a summary of his victories between August 2007 and August 2008:

During that time, Woods also had three other PGA Tour top-10 finishes, including two runner-up finishes (2007 Deutsche Bank Championship and 2008 Masters Tournament). Also included is his incredible 2008 season, in which he could play in just six official tournaments, won four and finished in the top five in the other two.
