Tiger Woods and his son Charlie are set to tee it up at the 2024 PNC Championship this week at the iconic Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. The 15-year-old's high school teammate will take on the father-son duo as part of a friendly rivalry.
Justin Leonard's son Luke is a rising junior golfer on the Benjamin School's golf team with Charlie. The two teenagers found themselves in a unique position of being teammates but also as rivals in the family event this week.
During the practice round of the PNC Championship, the former Open Championship winner's son was asked about the dynamic between him and the 82-time PGA Tour winner's son. Luke Leonard said (via X @GolfChannel):
"It's a lot of fun. I mean, usually it gets pretty darn competitive. [We] usually play for push-ups in high school golf because of course, you know, that's kind of our way of betting. But, no it's fun. I think it'll be competitive. I think, you know, we want to beat them, and they want to beat us. But at the end of the day, it's so much fun just to [play]. Charlie's a good kid, and it's a lot of fun to play with him."
The two teenagers share a special bond as the sons of PGA Tour legends. Luke played with Woods and Charlie in a casual round, a milestone for his 15-year-old teammate. That was the first day Charlie defeated the 2019 Masters champion in a nine-hole competition.
This week, Charlie and Luke will not be the only Benjamin School kids at the PNC Championship. Their high school alum, Luke Wise, will be caddying for the latter, while their teammate Sam will also take a turn on his bag.

Tiger Woods speaks out about his son's legacy
During the practice round of the 2024 PNC Championship, Tiger Woods took the opportunity to address the immense pressure on his son, Charlie. The 82-time PGA Tour winner stated that it isn't easy for the 15-year-old to play with a legendary last name, especially with the attention of social media.
In an exclusive interview with the PGA Tour, Woods said:
"I think he's going a great job. In this day and age where you have so many different - everyone is basically media, with all the phones. Being constantly filmed and constantly people watching, that's just part of his generation, and that's part of the world that he has to maneuver through. I try and do the best job I possibly can as a parent. I'm always here for him. But at the end of the day, I just want him to just be himself and live his own life."
All eyes have been on Charlie since his appearance at the 2021 edition of the tournament. While the teenager faces much pressure from fans and spectators, he embraces it with maturity on the course.
The father-son duo will tee it up at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club at 10:44 AM EST with Justin and Luke Leonard for the first round of the 2024 PNC Championship.
