The 2022 Masters was held at the Augusta National Golf Course from April 7 to April 10. Last year, Scottie Scheffler won the tournament by three strokes over Rory McIlroy. The tournament had a $15 million prize pool, with Scheffler taking home a $2.7 million cheque.

Top 5 highlights from the 2022 Masters

1) Scottie Scheffler won his first major championship

Scottie Scheffler played the last round of 71 to defeat Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy. He started the last round with a birdie on the third hole before birdieing on the seventh hole. The player then proceeded to make four birdies, one bogey, and a double bogey to wrap up a score of 71.

Scheffler won the first major of his career with a score under 10. Meanwhile, McIlroy finished in second position after scoring with a deficit of 7.


2) Stewart Cink's resounding shot

Stewart Cink hit the most special moment of the 2022 Masters by making an ace on the 16th hole that grabbed the attention of golf enthusiasts all around the globe. Reagan Cink was caddying for him, and it was also his birthday, making the shot even more special.

Despite his amazing shot, Stewart Cink missed the cut at the 2022 Masters. He finished with a score of seven and left the Augusta course after the second day of the tournament. Cink opened up the Masters with a bogey on the first hole and made two double bogeys on the first day to wrap up at a score of 76. On the second day, he made one birdie, four bogeys, and a double bogey.

The golfer made an ace on the 16th hole in the second round to finish at a score of 75, but missed the cut.


3) Tiger Woods' performance

Woods had been struggling with an injury while competing at the 2022 Masters. The 15-time major tournament winner still played and finished in 47th place with a score of 13. He played the first round with three birdies and two bogeys to wrap up with 71. Woods' performance in the second round also fell when he made six bogeys and four birdies.

He made two double bogeys in the third round and played the last round of 78 to finish in the 47th position.


4) Rory McIlroy's final-round performance

Rory McIlroy's memorable performance in the final round was one of the best moments of the 2022 Masters. The celebrated golfer tried his best until the last moment and chipped in a birdie on the 18th hole to wrap up with a score of 64.

He made six birdies and an eagle in the last round to finish with a total score of under 7 to secure second position at the 2022 Masters.


5) Cameron Smith's performance

Cameron Smith finished in third place at the Masters 2022. He started the tournament with a double bogey in the first round.

He made eight birdies in the opening round to wrap up to 68 and played in the second round of 74. With a third-round of 68 and a fourth of 73, Smith finished in third position alongside Shane Lowry.
