Tiger Woods recently celebrated his 49th birthday on December 30th. The golf legend will turn 50 next year and be eligible for the PGA Tour Champions. The senior tour requires a golfer to be at least 50 years old, and there are five more golfers apart from the 15-time major championship winner who will turn 50 in 2025.
Here is a list of five golfers who will turn 50 in 2025:
Five golfers who will turn 50 in 2025
1. Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods will turn 50 next year and be eligible to compete on the PGA Tour Champions. However, his birthday is on December 30th, the second last day of the year, so if Woods decides to join the senior tour, he will be eligible to compete in the 2026 season.
Since he is still recovering from his injuries, Woods has the option to compete on the senior tour with a cart, making it slightly easier for the 82-time PGA Tour winner to play pro golf regularly.
During the recent PNC Championship press conference, Tiger Woods said he saw Padraig Harrington, who competes on the senior tour, and gave a gist of their conversation.
"I saw him (at the PNC Championship) and we were just crossing paths and he laughed at me. I won’t say exactly what he said but the gist of it was he can’t wait to get out and beat me," Woods said.
2. Jamie Donaldson
Jamie Donaldson is a prominent name in European golf and was previously a part of the European Ryder Cup team. The golfer will turn 50 next year on October 19 and will be eligible to compete on the senior tour. He turned pro in 2000 and is a three-time DP World Tour winner.
3. Darren Fichardt
Darren Fichardt surprised everyone this year as he narrowly missed out on a 59 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in October. The South African professional golfer will turn 50 in May next year. The biggest highlight of his career has been winning 18 times on the Sunshine Tour.
4. David Howell
David Howell is a well-known name in the golfing world. His professional career peaked in 2006 when he won the BMW Championship and was in the top 10 in the OWGR for a while. The English golfer will turn 50 in June next year and is eligible to compete in the Legends Tour as he has five DP World Tour wins.
5. Bo Van Pelt
Bo Van Pelt competed on the Korn Ferry Tour this year and will qualify for the PGA Tour Champions from May 2025. He won a PGA Tour title back in 2009 and registered a runner-up finish at the Palmetto Championship in 2021.
