Tiger Woods played just five PGA Tour events in 2024. He only finished one, missing the cut in three and withdrawing in another. However, fans were still confident in his chances and showed it with their betting.
The 15-time major champion was among the top 7 PGA Tour players who received the most bets in his favor. The data was revealed by Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360), a monitoring agency that tracks the integrity of betting in various sports.
The report places Scottie Scheffler at the top of the list, more than $90 million ahead of the second-ranked player.
Top 7 most wagered PGA Tour players in 2024
These are the seven PGA Tour players who have received the most bets in their favor in 2024, according to IC360:
#1. Scottie Scheffler
The report puts the amount bet on Scottie Scheffler in 2024 at $166.1 million. That's more than triple the $48 million bet on the world number one a year earlier.
Not surprising. Scheffler won seven tournaments during the season (the first since Tiger Woods in 2007) and finished just two of 19 events outside the top 20.
#2. Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy received $74 million in wagers, an increase of more than $20 million from last year. McIlroy also performed well for his fans with two wins and seven other top 10s, although he may have disappointed many bettors with his runner-up finish at the US Open.
#3. Xander Schauffele
Fans bet $63.1 million on Xander Schauffele. It was an outstanding season for him, who won two major championships and had 15 other top-10 finishes, including 10 top 5s, in 22 tournaments.
#4. Max Homa
Fans once again showed their faith in Max Homa by betting $61.2 million on him. However, Homa was unable to return much of that faith, finishing the year with no wins and only three top 10s in 22 events.
#5. Ludvig Aberg
Even though 2024 was his first full season on the PGA Tour, Ludvig Aberg is already one of the top fan favorites. Proof of that is that he received $58.2 million in bets in his favor.
Aberg responded with a solid season in which he did not win but finished in the top 10 eight times, including a runner-up finish at the Masters Tournament, the first major championship of his career.
#6. Collin Morikawa
Collin Morikawa received $57.2 million in betting in 2024. The two-time major champion also had a solid season with eight top 10s, including two runner-up finishes and top 5s at The Masters (T3) and the PGA Championship (T4).
#7. Tiger Woods
Bets worth $46 million back the claim that Tiger Woods continues to enjoy the confidence of the fans. Woods only made the cut at the Masters and even had to undergo surgery at the end of the season.
However, Tiger Woods' performance at the 2024 PNC Championship has piqued the interest of fans to see what he can do in 2025.
