The BMW Championship just got over this week, and we can already feel the excitement in the air for the Tour Championship! The 30 top golfers, will be heading to the beautiful historic course of the East Lake Golf Club, to compete in the next week's Tour Championship; and the winner gets to take home a remarkable 18 million dollars, in bonus money!
The season of 2023 will mark the 17th season of the playoffs during which PGA Tour players contended across 46 events to secure their place in the finale. The postseason welcomed the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup points, narrowing down to the top 50 for Week 2 and ultimately the leading 30 who will vie at Atlanta's East Lake Golf Club.
At this venue, a four-day, no-cut event will unfold. An intriguing twist is that golfers' starting scores will be determined by their FedExCup standings. The player ranked first in the standings will commence the TOUR Championship with a score of -10, while the second-ranked golfer starts at -8, and so on. The ultimate champion of the TOUR Championship will walk away with a substantial $18 million prize. For the runner-up, the reward is $6.5 million, underscoring how a single hole or even a playoff loss could result in a significant financial difference. Rory McIlroy, last year's TOUR Championship winner, is set to participate in the 2023 tournament.
