Reaction following the final round of the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart on Sunday (July 14) – after Phil Mickelson claimed a memorable play-off victory.
Henrik Stenson, Sweden: (speaks about his performance)“Well, I mean it is a bit of both really. Its always disappointing when you are not winning and you are in the lead and one stage I had a couple more (shots) up on the pother guys but it was tough conditions and I didn’t play my best today. I was trying to hang in there and you know, I had to take a turn at the end on 16 and 17 and I needed to make a birdie on 16 and it didn’t happen – I bogeyed that one. Bogeyed 17, which is tough. To bogey 17 and 18 when you are coming in…Phil (Mickelson) bogeyed the last to kind of take it to extra holes instead of lifting the trophy at that moment. So, I was happy with the par putt I made on the last to get away with a third at least. I take a lot of positives, i tried my hardest and it wasn’t this week to be so you know, we are coming back next time.”
Branden Grace, South Africa:“Definitely, definitely. I was thinking I was playing for third or something and it just shows you how quickly things can change out there. I am happy with it. The vibes are good going into next week. The British Open is something to look forward to and i just have to hope i can take the quality of golf into next week.”
JB Hansen, Denmark:“Fantastic week. If i could have taken a fourth place before i came here i would take that – no problem. Very happy with my game and it is just what i needed to get my season…comfortable. I haven’t played so good the last few months.”
