Player reactions after the second round of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York on Friday, August 9th.
“Yeah, a little bit. It’s tough when you’re chasing history. You will be the first one to do something. I don’t think I’ve been the first to do anything in my life. So it was a little nerve wracking for a Friday. It’s usually the pressure you might fell towards the end of the tournament. But I got through it. I made a couple of pars, and I wish I had that putt on the last hole back again.”
I could hear the roar and knew he had a big putt to shoot the lowest score in major championship history. So I was kind of pulling for him to be honest with you. That’s a pretty good feat. I saw a tape of it when I was in the scoring tent. I realised he left the putt short, but great round. I guess, you are never surprised when conditions are good, great players find a way. Someone finds a way to shoot a low number. You know, today it happened it was a bunch of guys but Jason fired the best one.”
“No, I didn’t hit it anywhere near as good as I did yesterday. Consequently, I didn’t have that many looks. When I did, I missed my share, too.”
“I’m playing some great golf. It’s been a fantastic season. I was really excited with what I was doing the last couple of weeks. I was pleased with my performance in Canada with a second place. Then at Bridgestone, I finished just better than middle of the pack but really felt good about how I was hitting it and was excited coming into this championship.”
