The Norwegian professional golfer, Viktor Hovland, has an Official World Golf Ranking of No. 4 and presently competes on both the European and PGA Tours. His first PGA Tour victory came at the 2020 Puerto Rico Open when he defeated Josh Teater by one shot.

Aside from that, he has five more PGA Tour triumphs, two on the European Tour, and two others, for a total of ten professional victories.

After winning the 2018 U.S. Amateur, he climbed to the top of the world amateur golf rankings in 2019. Hovland made history by being the first Norwegian to win on both circuits at the 2020 PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open and the 2021 European Tour BMW International Open.

At the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Guidonia, Rome, Italy, in September 2023, Hovland competed for the European team in the 2023 Ryder Cup. Hovland went 3-1-1, including a victory in his Sunday singles match against Collin Morikawa, while the European team prevailed 16.5-11.5.

Viktor Hovland's Caddie

Viktor Hovland’s caddie is Shay Knight as of 2023.

Before joining Hovland, Knight caddied for players like Matt Jones, Aron Price, DJ Trahan, Martin Laird, Chez Reavie, Jerry Kelly, and Sean O'Hair. He has been in the caddie profession for almost 15 years. Early in 2019, Hovland did have his Oklahoma State collegiate coach Alan Bratton on the bag, but he desired a more permanent caddie in place as he prepared to turn pro.

Joe Skovron, caddie for Rickie Fowler, helped the two finally develop an arrangement after they met Knight at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

As soon as Hovland decided to turn pro, Joe Skovron asked if Knight would be interested in being a caddie for Hovland. Knight said yes without hesitation. Their first official week came at the 2019 Travelers Championship, where he tied for 54th.

According to Knight, the first week was an assessment for both of them. He thought that the first week was vital for determining mental compatibility. They wanted to build a strong rapport during Travelers Week because, in Knight's opinion, it was crucial. Building a solid relationship and discovering common interests outside of golf helped reduce stress during tournaments.

Knight stated, “He has the ability to take one side of the golf course out of play, which is huge.” He praised Hovland's ability to drive the ball straight and his calm demeanor. According to Knight, Hovland is a calm individual who, even when frustrated, quickly lets it go.

In addition to helping the young Norwegian go up the World Rankings, Knight has caddied Hovland to six professional victories. Other fascinating details about Knight are that Old Sandwich is his favorite playing course, while Pebble Beach is his favorite caddie course.
