Luke Clanton's sister Abby let out a huge roar as she cheered on the golfer, who is making his fifth start on the PGA Tour at this week's 3M Open. The top amateur sits tied for 87th place following an opening-round score of even par.
The Florida State University golfer is taking on the iconic TPC Twin Cities course in Minnesota, with his sister Abby by his side. Sitting at three under par through six holes, the 20-year-old displayed great skill on the tricky course. On the 391-yard long par four seventh hole, Clanton ran into a bit of trouble.
With his 292-yard tee shot finding the right fairway bunker, he was faced with 80 yards to the pin. However, his approach shot out of the sand trap did not carry enough to reach the green. Clanton went on to play his third shot from the rough 38 yards away from the pin.
Faced with a 36-foot and seven-inch putt for par, the young amateur went on to drain it to make an incredible recovery on the hole. His sister Abby let out a big scream while doing the strongman pose as the golf ball reached the bottom of the cup, leaving Luke Clanton with a smile on his face. The commentators loved his sister's reaction as well. Here's what the amused announcers had to say on the broadcast.
"That is Luke's sister. She is also the president of the Luke Clanton fan club."
