The 152nd Open Championship concluded last year at the Royal Troon Golf Club, which consists of the infamous 'The Postage Stamp' hole. The Par 3 8th hole of the Royal Troon Golf Club is called the Postage Stamp and is one of the most infamous holes for its narrow margin of error.
On January 4, The official handle of The Open tournament shared a short clip on their X account (formerly Twitter) to relive the drama from the 152nd edition. They captioned the post:
"'Famed and feared in equal measure.' The Postage Stamp produced great drama at The 152nd Open. Watch the official film on YouTube today."
The entire film documenting the 152nd edition of The Open premiered on R&A's YouTube Channel on January 1, 2025. The film addresses the drama that occurred on the Postage Stamp, where plenty of golfers struggled and lost their momentum.
Despite being one of the shortest holes on the course, the Postage Stamp has its challenges. The most imperative thing is distance control and accuracy amid high winds and overcast conditions. The green is narrow and surrounded by diabolical bunkers, making it daunting for golfers to save par.
The Postage Stamp got its name from Willie Park Jr., who won this major championship twice in his career. Later, he wrote about the 8th hole at Royal Troon Golf Club and called it 'a pitching surface skimmed down to the size of a postage stamp.'
Who won the 2024 Open Championship?
